Update, 3rd May 2009 Sadly – Jack passed away last night.
Our many friends both in Burlington and New York City have expressed their wish to say Goodbye to Jack. Richard and I still continue to wonder at why so many people have been so captured by Jack. We know why we loved and continue to love Jack deeply, but it is difficult to understand exactly how he caught the hearts of strangers and those who see him in a professional capacity irregularly in such a profound way. But he has, and we are deeply grateful for all the love shown that has made Jack’s short life such a special and happy one.
Address:
38 South Winooski Avenue
Burlington, VT 05401
We will stop in New York City on Thursday on our way home for a further short service with friends there. We will post details of a funeral service at home once these have been finalised.
If you choose, in lieu of flowers, please contribute to the JACK research fund to help provide hope for other relapsed children that are battling this terrible disease:

It has been two years since we first publicly wrote of Jack and publicly asked for your help in his fight against the childhood cancer; Neuroblastoma. Jack was 4 then and had already fought the illness for a year.
Jack is six now and he has celebrated one birthday and two Christmases that would not have been possible without all of your help. His siblings are now 11 and 8; we are, well, older.
We brought Jack to New York in May of 2006 for three reasons, reasons that intertwine.
• The UK offered nothing else beyond what he had already received – no cures.
• New York held hope through novel therapies and a commitment to research.
• Jack was Jack and had fought hard for too long to retain his essence and quell the cancer.
So two years later there is no happy ending but more importantly the story continues. Jack has undergone antibody therapy. Jack has certainly suffered three relapses involving areas of his bone, bone marrow and brain. Jack has endured brain surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, isolation, stem cell rescues and now relocation to Vermont for his latest trial. But none of this paragraph, other than the first and last sentences, is important. There maybe, no happy ending but there is still a happy, 'healthy', growing Jack.
Two years of finding friends of Jack. Friends of ours – friends who have made the strange familiar; friends who have lifted despair; friends who have arrived when help and hope appeared albeit vanished.
Friends like you
Thank you for the help, thank you for the help you offer now.
Thank you for two years and counting.
We STILL NEED YOUR HELP!
